Do you want to learn to sew? Do you want to help people? This may be the place for you! All People Quilt is trying to have 1 million pillowcases donated to various charities (women's shelters, natural disaster victims, homeless shelters, Ronald McDonald House, etc.).
They have patterns on their website to help you in this cause. Their basic pillowcase pattern would make a good beginning sewing project. It doesn't take much fabric, so it would also be inexpensive.
